FAQs

Who runs the carnival?
The Royal Wootton Bassett Carnival is organised and run by a very small group of volunteers. We do it because we love our town and want to ensure the Carnival continues to thrive. We all have ‘day jobs’ and give our time freely.

What happens to the money collected on Carnival day?
All money collected is used to fund the running of the Carnival. We usually manage to collect between £1,500 and £2,000 on the day. The Carnival costs around £4,500 to run, so every penny counts! Our major costs include our Public Liability Insurance, arranging road closures, AA signage, radio hire, prize money and the hiring of professional entertainment.

Are you looking for extra help?
Yes we are! If you would like to get involved, please let us know. We all do the best we can, but our Carnival could be even better if we had more people on the team.

Can anyone enter the procession?
Yes, please do. We have a range of categories to choose from, these include pubs, social clubs, families, trade vehicles, schools, playgroups, youth groups, prams, wheelbarrows & mobility scooters.

How do I enter?
Please download our Carnival Entry Form.

Are there any prizes for the winners?
Yes there are. The winners of each category (7 in total) win £100 and receive a trophy to look-after for a year.
